What do we do?

The Human-AI Experience Lab at Bentley University studies how people use, choose, and make sense of AI in everyday settings like education and the workplace. Drawing on surveys, interviews, and controlled comparisons, the lab examines user behavior, perceptions, and outcomes. Its work has two aims: to help people make informed, responsible choices about when and how to use AI, and to build novel intelligent interfaces that are more effective and user-friendly.

What does the name mean?

The .* is an nod to regular expressions, a common tool in Natural Language Processing, where it means "anything in between." In our name lab's space between people and AI. The asterisk is also a caveat, a reminder that using AI comes with trade-offs we study.
